Who We Are

Feeding The Sound, a 501(c)(3), was inaugurated in 2024 by Lachone Williams, a New Rochelle, NY native and the founder of Suggarplums Soul Food Restaurant. Feeding The Sound is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose primary focus is addressing food insecurity in New Rochelle, along the Long Island Sound, throughout Westchester County, and across the broader New York metropolitan area.

Our mission is simple but powerful: to ensure that no neighbor goes hungry and that every member of our community has access to nourishing food with dignity and care.

She started cooking. Then she started delivering. Then volunteers, food providers, and community partners started showing up, and Feeding The Sound grew from a kitchen into a community.

Today we serve hot meals to seniors and neighbors experiencing hardship, distribute groceries to families, support residents with mobility or transportation challenges, and bring people together around the same table.

Food is both nourishment and connection. A shared meal says you belong here. That is why we lead with dignity, compassion, and care — never pity.

Our mission

To ensure that no neighbor goes hungry and that every member of our community has access to nourishing food with dignity and care.

Feeding The Sound works to bridge the gap between community resources and those experiencing food insecurity by mobilizing volunteers, local partners, and food providers to deliver meaningful support where it is needed most.

Our Community Impact

Our impact continues to grow, as we continue to grow together.

Through these programs and more, Feeding The Sound strives not only to provide food, but also to strengthen the fabric of the community, ensuring that neighbors support neighbors and that no one feels forgotten.

Founded on the belief that food is both nourishment and connection, Feeding The Sound continues to grow its impact throughout the region — serving meals, distributing groceries, and building a stronger, more compassionate community along the Sound and beyond.
